Corky loves to run and play. She enjoys chasing seagulls as they fly above, chasing squirrels and, most of all, playing fetch with Alex. One day, Corky hurts her ankle and has to have one of her paws removed because of a complication after surgery. Step-by-step, she recovers and inspires both children and adults as she overcomes a life-altering challenge.
The book features beautiful illustrations by acclaimed illustrator Hiroe Nakata and is written by the talented author, Lisa Palumbo.
Meet Author Lisa Palumbo
Lisa Palumbo is a children’s book author and mother whose stories spark imagination, curiosity and wonder.
She holds a BA from Vassar College and an MHS from The Johns Hopkins University. Lisa worked as a legislative analyst in Washington, DC., advocating for children’s healthcare and literacy throughout the country. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Lisa is also partnering with the Humane World for Animals to help raise awareness and funds for their organization. The group is a global nonprofit that focuses on animal welfare and opposes animal-related cruelties of national scope.
Lisa currently lives on Long Island with her beloved son, Alexander and husband, Salvatore.

Meet Illustrator Hiroe Nakata
Hiroe grew up in Japan, encouraged in her drawing by her grandfather, a painter. At sixteen, she moved to the US and then graduated from the Parsons School of Design. Hiroe was honored by having two illustrations from her first book chosen for the prestigious Society of Illustrators Annual Exhibition in New York. She now resides in Japan with her husband and daughter.
